What should I do to prepare for a general pest spray treatment at home?

Wondering what you need to do to prepare for a pest treatment spray at home? You’re not alone, this is one of the top questions that we get asked when people enquire to book a pest spray with Perimeter Pest Control.

To ensure that the pest control spray is effective, we ask our clients to do the following prior to our technician’s arrival onsite. Completing this work before we arrive, allows us to treat as many areas as possible in and around your home to ensure the treatment works.

Steps To Carry Out Before a Pest Treatment Spray:

  •  Remove any clothing from your clothesline
  • Check that the technician can access the manhole in your ceiling to enable them to gain access to the roof void
  • Remove excess clutter from the perimeter of the building outside where possible
  • Allow access to as many skirting boards as possible inside the home – move any clutter away from walls

Is it safe for children and pets to be home when a pest control spray is being carried out?

It’s safe to be around the area once the chemical is dry. We ask that no children are home whilst the treatment is being carried out to avoid children coming into contact with chemicals. Pets will be moved to a safe area until the chemical is dry.

The products we use are approved, registered and are applied according to the label in a safe & effective manner.

General pests such as cockroaches, german cockroaches, silverfish and spiders are all treated the same way using a specialised pest spray treatment applied to the area.

If you do need to remain at home, you will need to speak to the technician at the time of booking your treatment service to seek advice.

Should I remove spider webs prior to a pest control spray treatment?

No, it’s best to leave spider webs in place until after we have treated the area.

What areas are treated inside the home during a pest spray?

When it comes to the inside of your property, our pest technicians need to gain access to as many areas as possible. Our technician will need to access the manhole so they can treat the roof void and weep holes with a dry dust spray.

Areas that are treated during an internal pest control spray include; skirting boards, door openings, window frames, underneath sinks, around plumbing pipes, cracks and crevices.

What areas do you treat outside during a general pest spray?

External areas around the home that are included are; fences, gutters, external walls, around garden beds, window surrounds, entry points, patios, pergola’s, under outdoor furniture, children’s play equipment, sheds and garages.
